Groove base plane. Sawn from a form bar. Flat bottom, 4.4 cm at the front, hollow rounded at the back from 0.7 cm, strongly rounded at the top, front hollow rounding with 0.5 cm bevel. Chip hole at the front, cut out as a triangle. Ebony wedge with a nicely rounded head. The sole is beveled from the side, front to outer edge.

Groove base planes are used to precisely smooth the sole of a groove. They do not require a chip breaker and not necessarily a chip hole.
