English Mitre Plane (Luxury Version)
The sole extends forward with a wooden block measuring about 3.5 × 3.4 × 2.8 cm, topped by a 2 mm bronze decorative plate secured by two screws. There is also a small horn piece measuring roughly 3.1 × 1.8 × 2.3 cm, with an indentation and a flat “roof” on top.
The body is assembled from three wooden panels joined with six 1.1 cm dowels. The darker central section sits slightly proud, rounded at the rear, and extends about 1 cm beyond. The top edges are rounded, the chip-ejection opening is oval, and the plane uses a wooden wedge. The back two-thirds is slightly beveled.
The bronze sole is 6 mm thick, chamfered at the front sides and rounded at the rear. The mouth is about 85 mm from the front, measuring approximately 8 × 34 mm. The sole is one solid piece, attached to the wooden body with 14 countersunk bronze screws.
Iron: about 32 mm (1¼ in.) wide, with a cutting angle around 43°.
Marked with a fish emblem, “HERR.N & SONS SHEFFIELD.”
