Mitre Plane – Fine Bronze Casting

Precision smoother made from bronze casting. The side walls are 2 mm thick, and the sole is 4 mm thick. At the front, there is an adjustable sliding plate (46 × 4.3 × 2.5 mm) with top threading to regulate the mouth opening from 1–5 mm.

Above it, the base is 4–8 mm thick and includes a slot (11 × 7 mm) with a 24 mm long screw (Ø 22 mm head, Whitworth 55°, 28G thread) for securing.

Behind the sole is a 19 mm long chamfer that acts as the lower iron bed. This is part of a longitudinal brace with a 15 mm tenon and threaded hole to receive a 21 mm long, 6 mm screw that holds the cap iron.

A transverse brace with a 24 mm tall, cross-notched block serves as the rear iron support.

The cap iron is made of bronze (97 mm long, 44 mm wide, and 4–27 mm high), with a slotted hole at the front and a hollow thumb grip at the back.

Below it is a 50 mm long clamping lever with a domed 19 mm steel disc attached. No iron depth adjustment mechanism is included.
