Very Old Iron Box

Made from four sheet metal parts. Sole before mouth measures 105 × 41 × 5 mm, behind 118 × 41 × 5 mm, rounded at the rear. Side walls 419 mm long, 31 mm wide, with 36 mm dovetails and 3.5 mm wall thickness.

The flat iron in the middle is curved from 41 mm diameter round to front. Both front sides are rounded 70 mm long, 20 mm high. Both sole parts have two 6–7 mm long recesses on both sides for the frame dovetails. At the mouth, 35 mm wide and just under 2 mm removed (4 mm mouth).

Yellow solder lines visible. 25 mm from sole start is a curved 3 mm sheet metal piece 37 (30 mm bottom) wide and 65 mm high, between side wall ends, soldered to the sole. A laterally soldered 7.5 mm bolt serves as wedge stop.

Rear has an iron stop with a wooden wedge inserted.

Iron: 32 mm wide, bevel on top 27°. Cutting angle: 27° = 54°. Marking: Two lock marks P + M, GOTTRIED SCHARFF.
