Wet Grinding Stone. For preliminary sharpening of plane blades. The grinding stone is small, 6 cm wide and 11.5 cm long, consists of fine grit. The 200 mm long drive shaft with a diameter of 13 mm, equipped with a hand crank and handle. The shaft is mounted in two iron pipes with diameters of 14-22 mm and a length of 40 mm, with internal thrust washers and external split pins to guide the shaft. The two iron pipe pieces are attached to a metal plate affixed to a wooden block. The base measures 41x14x2 cm and is fitted with a wooden mount of 15x7.5 cm under the grinding stone featuring a slot of 15x1 cm. In this slot, an iron rest, angled at 40° and screwed on, is adjustable. The base is made of wood with 14 deep grooves. Underneath the large hole and the grinding stone is a water trough, 12.5 cm wide and 8 cm deep, glued on. The top is 22 cm wide and 15 cm long. The base has a rounded hole with a diameter of 2.8 cm with various adjustable suspension options. This grinding stone is exceptionally small. Stone diameters from 80 - 120 mm are normal, the bevel on plane blades is less worn due to the size.
Condition: Old. Hardly suitable for use anymore despite the stone still being good.
