Groove base plane. The plane is straight on the side, ship-shaped lengthwise, flat on top with an iron-wooden wedge hole. The front is vertically rounded, 5.8 cm at the top, 4.5 cm at the bottom, with side walls only 0.8 cm thick. This allows a good view of the groove to be worked on and prevents longitudinal tipping of the flat sole. This results in an exact groove depth. The open groove serves as the chip hole. A chip breaker is not necessary in the groove.

Iron: 14 mm, bevel at the bottom Angle: 45°, resp. approx. 20°
