English Mitre Plane
A smoothing plane with a beautifully shaped, polished bronze body, both inside and out. Wall thickness: approx. 4 mm, sole: 10 mm. Sides: flat, rounded front and rear. A hinged lever cap measuring 63 mm, then a 10 mm step downward. Top edges chamfered. Walnut handle at the back, rising 35 mm above the bronze, with a 5-inch (12.7 cm) rear grip. Front knob (Ø 3.2/3.1 cm, height 3.5 cm). Behind it, a wedge-like block (10×4.3×4 cm) made of walnut, forming the iron bed and shaving slot. Three 4 mm screws hold it in place. A 1.8 mm thick brass plate is inserted below the iron bed, 40×30 mm, fastened with two 5 mm screws. A 5 mm threaded rod (Whitworth 55°, 14G) with a 14 mm wing nut adjusts the cap iron. The mouth is 8×40 mm, about 6 mm behind the front arc. Overall length: 280 mm, width: 60 mm. Height at the rear: 76 mm, tapering to 45 mm at the front. Weight: 1,500 g. A side fence (5×3×40 mm) can be attached via a 5 mm screw, but is missing.
