Combination Grooving Plane (Body & Fence)

The main body has a side fence mounted on two round 10 mm rods (each about 78 mm long). This is a complex cast plane, including a polished handle with decorative detailing. It is embossed with “RECORD 044” and “MADE IN ENGLAND.”

At the front, there is a 10 mm hole with a clamping screw for the front rod, plus a vertical 6.5 mm hole with a clamping screw for the depth stop (a 64 × 13 × 2 mm piece), adjustable from 0 mm to about 14 mm. On the left side is a 45° iron fence, with a cam above it serving as the cutter-cap holder.

The loose cap (measuring about 43 × 7/12 × 13 mm) has a 5 mm thread and a knurled screw head of around 13 mm in diameter. Inside, there is a 6 mm clamping screw with an 8 mm “stop head” for lateral support of the iron. At about 50° upward behind the iron is a 5 mm thread with a 24 mm adjusting screw that engages a 2 mm-wide, 13 mm-diameter round cam in four adjustment slots on the iron—this can be tightened with a screwdriver. Under the handle, there is a 10 mm hole for the rear rod.

Side Fence (Cast Piece, 188 × 50 × 55 mm): It has two 4 mm holes for attaching a wooden strip. The two 10 mm holes (with clamping screws) in front of and behind the arc are set about 20 mm higher. The fence also has a 12 mm-deep recess for the iron and a lateral adjustment range from 0 cm to about 2 cm.

Grooving Irons (11 total): 2/16, 3/16, 1/4, 1/4, 5/16, 11/32, 3/8, 7/16, 15/16, 1/2, and 9/16 inch. Each iron has four 2 mm transverse grooves at the top rear.
